MIURA LAUNCH PHOTOFOUNDATION

Miura today announced the launch of our volunteering initiative, photofoundation. Working in collaboration with Orange to create a flagship mobile volunteering action with their showcase app, Do Some Good. photofoundation is the first social image bank dedicated to supporting charities via the collection and management of photographs donated by users through their mobile devices. The ‘Do Some Good’ app allows convenient, bite-size volunteering through a mobile phone, enabling users to do a good deed at a time and place that suits their lifestyle – all in less than five minutes.
photofoundation.org will be one place where everyone can volunteer and offer their photos, enabling charities to build up an image bank, at no cost, that they can then use for their own purposes. It will also become an asset for the charities with a revenue stream from images sold to commercial interests.
In less than a month 158,184 images have been donated, an amazing show of generosity and support from the general public. This enthusiasm to help create the first social image bank is a wonderful and exciting way to get the image bank up and running.
Following a competition for the best ideas, Miura was chosen by Orange as one of the 12 partners to create volunteering actions for the Do Some Good app.
Miura has plans to additionally develop the photofoundation site to allow charities to collate their efforts via images and share and show pride in their good work. The site will allow charities to collect and publish the stories behind the images.
