Miura is delighted to announce the completed website design and development for the Symbian Foundation. Trading for ten years previously as Symbian Ltd, the Foundation was reformed in June 2008 as a not-for-profit organisation to facilitate collaboration across mobile phone providers towards the development of free open source software. It is embarking on a global campaign to inform and introduce the role of the Foundation within the open source movement, through its new multi- faceted website.

This ambitious project brought opportunities and challenges. Miura needed to develop a platform of immediate and lasting importance to accommodate the most advanced mobile devices in the world as well as legacy devices. Over 150 device models were identified as already incorporating Symbian OS encompassing over 90 million handsets globally with a predicted growth to 180 million by 2014. The number of users, corporations, and developers as potential collaborators could therefore run into millions.

Miura, a multi platform digital design agency based in London won the contract after a four way pitch. Miura’s extensive international portfolio not only covers the mobile sector but also the sectors of banking, petroleum, shipping and technology.

Miura Apps

At Miura we have been developing a new application for Symbian OS. The app seems quite buggy and may not be released. Its a telekinesis app that makes the phone come to its owner when called for. These tests have been done on an old reconstructed device with an K810i shell. Watch the video here.
